6 hours to go!

In 6 hours I'll be sitting down to watch the Socceroos play Italy in the World Cup. It's the first time Australia has got through to the second round, so it's Hooray for historicalness!

Some ideas I've had to help fill in the next 6 hours...

- Set the alarm to wake me up at midnight, and try to have a nap (Way too practical! Even though I have to get up early to go to work tomorrow...)
- Cook Australian foods such as damper, lamingtons and pavlova
- Knit my dog a green and gold soccer jersey
- Get distracted by shiny things on the internet

Achey Breaky Heart (my blog entry titles are getting worse aren't they?)

Hey Sam, even though I know you've deleted it, I accidentally went to what used to be your blog. Instead of "Kick Start My Rockin Rollin Heart", it is now "For a fit heart, cut calories and TV viewing!"

I was so shocked that I almost had a heart attack!

(What's that? Exaggerate? Me?)

So I figured that I had better cut calories and TV viewing at once! The last thing I need is a nasty internet surprise ending with a trip to the hospital!

Raindrops keep fal- It's raining m- I can't think of an appropriate song lyric from a cool song to title this with...

It hasn't rained in such a long time. I forgot how bloody inconvenient it is. Mud and dampness and having to try and keep the dog dry so he doesn't smell like a wet dog... there are few smells worse than wet dog...

Oh dear, I'm posting in my blog about the weather! That's dangerous territory to be entering. Next I'll be saying "kids these days, they don't realise how lucky they are! In my day..."

QUICK SOMEONE CHANGE THE SUBJECT!

Mini Random Junk Mosaic
  • I just bought The Grates new album, and it is very nice indeed (thanks for asking)
  • I also bought a new phone. It's got a camera and everything. Now I'm only about four years behind everyone else! How cool am I???*
  • New job is still good. Yayness for me.
  • Last night I got a sneaky preview of one of the tracks off the new Muse album. I'm getting excited already, but it's not going to be out here until next month.
  • Australia just made it through to the next round of the World Cup. There are lots of excited sports fans around today. Bloody bandwagon jumpers...
  • Do you think labelling this as a "mini" random junk mosaic made it cuter than my usual random junk mosaics?**

Harsh reality

It seems to be the kind of week where things are determined to be gruelling.

I received some really sad news yesterday. I'm still shocked. I've been preoccupied with it all day.

I also have some difficult decisions to make. I've pretty much made them, but carrying them out is going to be scary.

And I've just tried to read Samirah's blog and it's disappeared.

What the hell is going on???

"I'm a cuckoo" *sigh* no I'm not...

Belle and Sebastian are playing in my town tonight.

And I'm here at home on the interweb :(

Enough said.

"These are a few of my favourite things"

I went to see Ross Noble the other week, it was so good. He has to be one of the best stand-up comedians in the world. (I know I’m prone to a bit of exaggeration from time to time, but this is definitely not one of those times!)

I love his style. A friend of mine hates it, and refused to go with me. So yeah, I guess he’s not for everyone, but the capacity crowd that was there certainly loved him. He rambles about all over the place, constantly leaps from one story to another, acts out all the weird movements... Ok, I can’t describe it well enough, obviously you have to go and see him in person to appreciate it. I did, and it was bloody good. You know you’ve had fun when your face, stomach, etc, all hurt from laughing.

I bought his DVD, which should hopefully sustain me until he tours again. Now that he's married an Australian I expect he'll keep doing one tour a year, but I'll cross my fingers as well anyway just to be on the safe side...

I’ve bought quite a few DVDs and CDs lately. I think I’m trying to make up for the periods when I’ve had to ban myself from going into shops that sell them. I tend to lose a bit of self control in those places. That's what happens when you like so many bands...

I got The Dresden Dolls new album ‘Yes, Virginia...’ I love it. Their website is one of the best band sites I’ve seen. Not that I’ve done a wide ranging survey or anything (I wish! Somebody pay me to do it!), but it’s in tune with their theatrical... ness (I’ve mentioned before that I’ll never be a music journo...)

I must see them live sometime.

"It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine"

So how was the end of the world for you?

Good old 06.06.06 came and went and it looks like the earth is still here... Nothing apocalyptic happened, although sometimes when heroes save the day they arrange things so that most people are none the wiser. At least that's what Hollywood movies have taught me...

Why am I never one of the half a dozen people who get to do all the cool stuff? I could lower myself to being the ‘token female’ if it meant I could be involved in the earth saving!

I'll even stand around looking intense if the role requires it...
